The Twelfth International Software Configuration Management Workshop (SCM-12) gathers together people who share a common interest in the development, application, and study of software configuration (SCM) and the related product data management (PDM) systems. These systems record the evolution of software or product development artifacts, as well as stable configurations of the same. SCM systems provide support for collaborative work, including the support of workflows, prevention of overwrites to shared files, and merging of conflicting changes. Representation and management of system and product variants is another area of focus. The discipline of SCM also encompasses systems for building software (such as make or ant), and issue tracking (bug tracking) systems.

Since the first SCM workshop 18 years ago in 1988, the SCM workshop series has focused on improving the state of the art in SCM systems by providing a venue for the dissemination and discussion of high quality research results. The workshops have benefitted from the active engagement of participants from industry and academia, a reflection of the fact that advances in SCM have come from both sources.

The workshop is a two-day event, co-located with the ESEC/FSE 2005 conference. The workshop is being held at the Faculty of Economics, Room 144, Campolide Campus, New University of Lisbon.
