Subject: Preliminary Proposal for a 20 -year Postgraduation Reunion

 Hi all,
 
 On one of the mild and nice, typical California evenings, Yang Jianping (Linda), Zhang Fan, Pu Xinhua (Eric), and myself (and two beautiful kids of Yang and Zhang) got together at the Little Si Chuan (?) Restaurant in Fremont, California. Nevertheless to say, we all enjoyed the nearly perfectly cooked Si Chuan dishes. As the evening went on, our conversation topic turned to the good, old times we spent at USTCS, as well as the first reunion in 1998. Suddenly, we realized that the true 20-year reunion should be in 2002 (of course, the 1998 reunion should not be discounted). So, we decided to post this message to solicite ideas, suggestions, and tips and explore the feasibility of holding such an event. The options we discussed are as follows:
 
 1. Time
 (a) Spring 2002
 Justification: Spring break and nice weather almost everywhere 
 (b) Early Summer 2002
 Justification: Kids are off school and it's not too warm yet
 (c) Late Summer 2002
 Justification: Kids are still off school and fall is approaching (therefore it's not too hot)
 
 2. Location
 (a) Silicon Valley 
 Justification: A lot of us live here and you can navigate the sites of many tech heavyweights
 (b) Vancouver
 Justification: Beautiful all year around; relaxed and easy-going
 (c) Toronto
 Justification: Strongly suggested during the last reunion (I really don't know much about it)
 
 3. Host
 (a) People living near the selected location
 (b) People living near the selected location with coordination from others
 (c) Selected group 
 
 4. Other issues (to be determined)
 
 I hope this message can stimulate more discussions.

 P.S. I also met Din Xiao Yang during his recent visit to the Bay Area. Pu Xinhua and I took him to a local restaurant where we had a double spicy hot pot (Yan Yang Huo Guo). Boy, he sweat like Niagara Fall, only 15 min into the eating. Hey, buddy, you need to practice a bit and there are more waiting for you in California.
