Subject: a letter to USTC

 To: Rongshan Fu

Professors Fu Rongshan, Xu Guoming, and Huan Jianhua:

It was sad for all of us, the USTC 777 graduates, to learn the sudden death of Prof. Huang
Peihua two months ago. After a week-long communication through emails in response to
the question, "Should we do something for Prof. Huan Peihua's pass way?" there are now
14 of us who have voiced to the conclusion that we should do something for it.
Besides expressing our deepest condolence, we together would like to offer our donation to
Prof. Huan's pass away, and have so far committed over $1500 for it.

Some of us wanted to have their donation to Prof. Huang's family for relievation of the
pain and suffering of the aftermath, and the rest of us would like to set up a fund in
memory of Prof. Huang Peihua. The fund could be used to create a scholarship for either
students or teachers in the 7th department depending on the availability of the fund.

Regarding the issue of getting higher interest rate, one suggestion is to manage the fund
through USTC Alumni Foundation (USTCAF) in order to get a better return in the US
market. The long term effect of this fund is that it marks the start of the long-term compaign
for seeking USTC 777 alumni's donation and participation in the advancement of the
 department.

Most of our discussions are posted at the USTC 777 web site at

 http:////alumni.cse.ucsc.edu/~sdai/777reun/777.html

We would recommend you to visit this site for further development.

Would you please contact Prof. Huan's family on behalf of us to find out what is the best
way to use the fund? How could we deliver the donation to Prof. Huang's family?
On the other hand, what are your suggestions on this issue?

You could either send an email to me at chen@oce.orst.edu or post it at the USTC 777 web
site. I will post it at the site if you send the email to me.

We all are struggle/busy with our own career and life but we never forget that we all had
our undergraduate education at the 7th department of USTC. On that matter we are all
connected no matter where we are and what we are doing. We believe that helping USTC
in some way is the interest of every USTC alumanaes. We are just doing what we should
 and what we could.

We need your help and colaboration to accomplish our objective. We all appreciate your
 help on this matter.
