This production by Pisces Moon on 6 Aug 2005 was the culmination of a two-week camp (10 6-hour days). The cast of 43 kids did an amazing job on a huge script (67 pages, for a 2.5-hour performance), especially as a third of the script was finished only 3 days before performance and they did not have time for a full dress rehearsal. Two performances were done on outdoor stages (since the Broadway Playhouse only seats 63)—the evening performance was much smoother than the afternoon one.
Abe had two parts: Bartemius Crouch, Sr. and Bartemius Crouch, Jr. We were quite pleased at how well he learned his lines, developed physical and vocal mannerisms for his characters, stayed in character onstage, projected his voice (he was one of the few who did not need amplification for the outdoor stage). The directors were also apparently pleased with his work this summer, as they gave him their "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" award, which they give to one child in each cast.
The director, Terri Steinmann, does a fantastic job of matching kids
to their parts and getting excellent performances out of the kids,
while keeping their enthusiasm for the theater high. We have been
very pleased with Pisces Moon and plan to have Abe work with them again.
