Teaching

Partial philosophy Teaching and research are complementary. While research provides depth of understanding on a highly focused research topic, teaching forces the instructor to synthesize elements of the research that are germane to a broader community, and so solidifies understanding (or, perhaps more often, makes the instructor aware of how little he/she knows in the first place!). Teaching is also an ideal forum in which to find researchers 8-).
