I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Bioinformatics and Biomolecular Engineering program in the Jack Baskin School of Engineering, at the University of California, Santa Cruz. I began in this program in the Fall 2011. My main interests lay in machine learning and applying computational and statistical inference techniques to systems biology, specifically cancer genomics data. My current research is concentrated in the area of drug response prediction and patient-specific treatment prediction in cancer.

I graduated from San Jose State University. I received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree with minor in Mathematics (cum laude).

I returned to school after nearly a decade of working in the software industry in order to pursue my passion in machine learning and data analytics. I have a strong background in mathematics, statistics, algorithms, and software development. I wish to apply my background to research in computational life sciences.
