Moving from Windows to Unix: I've been a Windows user all my life so most of these Unix related things seem somewhat overwhelming to me, I have my CATS account set up (the email is fowarded to this address). Well basically, my question is where and how do we submit files? Such things as where the files should be on the computer, and what exactly do we log on to submit the files would be helpful for me. Another question would be, outside of the labs, where could we submit an assignment (I live in Crown). I will probably think up more questions, but if I can I'll ask in person, thank you for your time Answer: Please start by reading the LabInfo section of the class web page. http://www.cse.ucsc.edu/~sbrandt/12A/labinfo.html Then come to lab and try it out. You can submit from anywhere as long as you can telnet into a CATS machine (e.g. teach.ic.ucsc.edu). Logon (user name and password), then run the command described on the web: http://www.cse.ucsc.edu/~sbrandt/12A/node23.html You need to be in the directory where the file you are submitting is located. You can create directories (like folders) and switch directories. See http://www.cse.ucsc.edu/~sbrandt/12A/node2.html
