Ira Pohl is Emeritus Professor of
Computer Science at
the University of California,
Santa Cruz.
The department is part of the Jack Baskin School of Engineering.
His research interests include on-line education, artificial intelligence, the
C#, C, C++ and Java programming languages, practical complexity problems, heuristic
search methods, deductive algorithms, and educational and social issues. He
originated error analysis in heuristic search methods and deductive algorithms.
He has written widely on programming in C, C++, C# and Java.
Ira Pohl was formerly a Mackay professor at the University of California at Berkeley, a ZWO fellow at the Vrije University in the Netherlands, and a national fellow at the University of Auckland, New Zealand.
