264.   Sumner Gilles is trying to gather up a group of people in Sandwich for an expedition on the Compactor, which Sumner Gilles has agreed to lead. Sumner Gilles has made it clear that, because it was his decision for the ship to be commandeered, he will serve as its captain. Sumner Gilles was designated captain of the Compactor, which will depart Sandwich shortly; he has never captained a ship before. Lamb Prasun, Lamb Prasun, Glen Gilles, Rica Gilles, Capt. Sumner Gilles, Fannie Gilles, and Silvester Noland have boarded the Compactor from the port of Sandwich, Hornbeak. The Compactor, under command of Capt. Sumner Gilles, has left the harbor at Sandwich, Hornbeak. The Compactor is heading SE at full-speed.

267.   The Compactor is heading SE at full-speed. Reed Gilles died at sea aboard the Compactor from complications related to infancy; he was only a year old.
269.   The Compactor sits motionless on the open sea, 183 miles from land. The crew of the Compactor have spotted land. The Compactor is approaching an apparently uninhabited island. A new island was discovered by the crew of Compactor. They call it Burmuda. On it, they have founded a port called Gilles Hill, which is named after Capt. Sumner Gilles.
302.   Capt. Sumner Gilles, who captained the Compactor from 264 to 269, died in Gilles Hill, Burmuda, of natural causes; he was 64 years old.
