James Byron


James Byron is a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

About me

I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science to gain a broad and deep skill set with respect to research, writing, programming, software design, and leadership. My academic interests include computer architechure and storage, data mining and analysis, computer security, software to help the disabled, and machine learning. Having started my Ph.D. work in 2016, my research will focus on storage systems and security.


In addition to my academic interests, I enjoy learning and speaking foreign languages, hiking in nature, and cycling. I also enjoy traveling and spending my vacations in quiet places, in particular the desert.
