Research Experience

Energy efficient video processing based on STT-RAM

Exploiting the volatile STT-RAM as line buffers in video display processing system, with selective buffer write and redundant bit write removal, can reduce the overall memory energy consumption to 38.24% with respect to that of baseline SRAM architecture. This work also demonstrates that video display processing system can tolerate up to 1×10 -5 bit error rate without any visible image quality degradation. (Appeared in ISQED 2016)

Video processing and energy efficient external memory

This work proposes a bit-depth scaling scheme to enable dynamic voltage and frequency scaling for external memory system and hence provide a quality-scalable energy efficient display processing solution. This proposed scheme is able to reduce the energy consumption of overall external memory system by up to 23.8%. (Appeared in ISCAS 2015)
