You can think of it as a working prototype that Qualcomm uses in part to test the latest Snapdragon chip with the camera, apps, 5G network trials and so on. While the reference device isn't a finished phone that will sell under a brand apple antutu name – unlike a prototype for Samsung's foldable phone, for instance – it's extremely useful for seeing how a phone running on the Snapdragon 855 might act.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha images come to light The AnTuTu results obtained by GSM Arena show the “Alpha” ranking higher than the Samsung Galaxy S5 , HTC One M8 , and others, which suggests it could feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset.

If you're more into Antutu or Vellamo, then the numbers you are after are 4,377 and 975 (compared to the Transformer Prime's 953). NenaMark and NenaMark 2 landed at 34.5- and 24-fps respectively. Quadrant, on the other hand, came in around the 1,800 mark, about the same as the Transformer TF101.

The team over at Netbook News decided to take the 7”, 1280 x 800 display totin', 1.2GHz Snapdragon powered slab and give a good benchmarking – which always piques our interest.

According to the recent rumors, the Galaxy Alpha could have a 4.7-inch 720p display, a 12-megapixel rear shooter, a front-facing 2.1-megapixel camera, and a 1,850mAh battery. Powered by Android 4.4 Kitkat, the LTE-ready smartphone could also have an eject-able nano SIM card slot.

It shouldn't be long before we can finally put this one to bed; an announcement could come as soon as Wednesday, August 13, though there's still a chance we won't see it until IFA the first week in September.

Samsung and Huawei, apple the top two phone makers, manufacture their own in-house chips, too – though only a small number of Samsung phones use its homegrown Exynos chip. Qualcomm is the world's largest chip maker for mobile phones, which means that the Snapdragon 855 will come to many of the highest-end Android phones in 2019. But Qualcomm isn't alone.

antutu benchmark scores have surfaced for the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, but the latest scores suggest the Galaxy Alpha might be able to hang with some of the bigger dogs. One thing that Android-leakers can't seem to decide on is just how high-end the Alpha specs will be – some say high, some say not so much. That is, of course, provided the numbers weren't manipulated or skewed to favor the Samsung smartphone.

Amazon says to expect “the biggest Prime Day deals ever on Alexa-enabled devices.” Never miss a Prime Day deal when it starts July 15 What other kinds of deals should I expect? The S8's display uses Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and survived multiple drops from different heights. Lastly, the S8's display has a higher pixel density, so it's a tad sharper (though you can't really discern this with your naked eye). But the G6's screen is coated with Gorilla Glass 3 and during our drop tests, it cracked on the first try. However, the S8 has a slightly bigger display (5.8 inches compared to 5.7), smart phones and is physically lighter, narrower and oppo thinner than the G6. Both are rated IP68 for smart phones water resistance and have barely-there bezels. Design: Eye-candy and durability The S8 and meizu G6 have plenty of design elements in common.
