I'm a 4th year Phd student in PBSE (Program in Biomedical Sciences and Engineering) at University of California - Santa Cruz.
I graduated from University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana in 2003 with a BS in Computer Science. After graduating, I worked at a consulting firm called Knightsbridge Solutions where I was trained in Data Warehousing tools such as Informatica, Ab Initio and worked at various clients around the country including America Online and Kaiser Permanente.
After 2-3 years I left the consulting firm for a more permanent position at Southwest Airlines as a software engineer continuing to work on big data problems focusing more on database design and SQL Programming in Teradata and Oracle.
I left Southwest Airlines to follow my interests in solving big data problems in Biology and Genetics hopefully one day curing cancer. :-)
