Research Interests

My research interests include security and privacy, with a focus on allowing free expression of speech and against government repression of dissidents. To this end, I am studying oblivious RAM (ORAM), and working to make it practical. I am also very interested in the intersection of systems and mathematics. I did my undergraduate thesis in cellular automata, with a focus on alternative measures of universality. I am now working on oblivious programming languages under Professor Owen Arden, and how to enforce constraints of obliviousness with formal type systems. I have also done research in Quantum Computing and supercomputing, via the SULI program and TRUST REU at UC Berkeley.

Papers

This section will be updated as I publish papers.

Undergraduate Mentorship

If interested in doing research under me, please feel free to email me. I am currently mentoring undergraduates in research. These topics include fooling facial reconigition software with machine learning, finding stingrays/IMSI catchers, deniable file systems and tracing writes on a file system, and finally mentoring an undergraduate on a senior thesis related to a testing framework for oblivious RAM. If you have a security related idea, feel free to run it by me, we can likely support it.

My Hobbies

My hobbies include blacksmithing, metalwork, hiking, beer brewing, music, and tea. See my hobbies for examples of my work. My hair color changes a lot. Click on the image of me to see my current hair style if you need to know what I currently look like.

Personal Philisophy

I strive to be the best person I can be. I am fairly interested in social justice and creating a fairer place within tech. I strongly support the rights of all workers. If there is anything I can do to be respectful of you, and help you learn more, just let me know and I'll do my best to respect it. If you would like to know more about my political leanings, I encourage you to research Posadism. Until the alien vanguard comes, we must strive to be gentle and fair with one another, and unite and organize against oppression.
