Srikumar got his
bachelors degree in Computer Science from Anna
University (College of Engineering at Guindy) in India.
Travelling back and forth from France to USA, he obtained his PhD jointly from
INRIA Rhone Alpes, France and UC Santa Cruz under the
guidance of Dr. Peter Sturm and Prof. Suresh Lodha. Several
motivating factors like skiing in French alpes, Marie
Curie Fellowship from the European Union and inspiring supervisors enabled him
to write a PhD thesis that received few awards – INPG
Best Thesis Prize, Honorable Mention for the annual "Prix de thèse AFRIF" for 2007 given by the Association
Française pour la Reconnaissance et l'Interprétation
des Formes (the French Association for Pattern Recognition) and finalist for
the ERCIM European thesis prize “CorBaayen – 2007”. After his PhD he moved to Oxford to pursue his postdoc with Prof. Philip Torr.
