Subject: Re: Jack Lee and message from Tang Ming
Hi Li Feng, Thank you for your message and glad to hear from you. For the address list, Tang Ming has suggested that we put our address directories on the web site. Attached to the end is a message from Tang Ming. I know that Li Yingping already made a 7771 home page for 7771's directory. If wanted I can put or add the links of each of our directories here on this page. About how to set up your own computer to be the server, I've never done that before. But, yes you can do it. As far as I know, you need to have a full-time(24hours by 7days) IP address to set up you computer as a server. I heard that it's not difficult to config it as a web server. Sorry that I can't help out at this point. I wish I could be more help on this. Any one else has some tips? About putting pictures in the web site, if you have your pictures in a public site I can just add a link to it. The only thing you need to give me is the URL for it. If you don't, you can send me(sdai@sco.com) one or two of your pictures in jpeg format. I will put it in our site. Since I have quota limit in my own account of alumni machine at UCSC, it can't hold many big files. The best thing to do is have people put such kind of large file on their own site and post the link here. As long as the site is public every one can see it. I'll work on adding an option so that people can post some useful links or links they like others to see from here. I noticed that you are in China. You'll come to our reunion, right? Hope to see you there. I believe everyone from 777 is happy to have this "home". Lao Wen has compiled a directory for 7773. People in 7771/2 may have done the same. I suggest we put those directories and future reunion announcements on the web. It is much easier and more effective than forwarding files after each update. We may need to get everybody's agreement in advance in case someone is sensitive to the publication. Sorry for the format of this note, I am still in the stone age. My message at your web site was blocked by the firewall, thus this is the only option I can send out note from office.
