Subject: Hello

Dear Dai Sa, Lao Wen, and all,

A couple weeks ago, John (Yong Shuen) Chen asked
me if I could help Lao Wen to contact 7771
classmates for the reunion. Unfortunately I was
on the road during these two weeks. Thus I am especailly
glad to see that Dai Sai has set up this discussion site.

Assuming that early July is still the planned date for
reunion, I will be able to participate. My only hard constraint
in the summer is a research cruise on a French ship
from 23 July to 28 August. It is most likely that
I will come alone since we are in the middle of
having a new house built on the Cape Cod (MA) and the kids
(Kevin, 7 yrs and Vincent, 3 yrs) are having too much fun
on the Cape during the summer.

Two weeks ago, I saw two 7772 classmates in a Keda party in
 Boston. They are Zhang Yufei
and Huang Yinglei . I did
send forward Lao Wen's email to both, but for some reason
 Huang Yinglei's email didn't work.

Dai Sa and Lao Wen, please let me know how I might be of help to
you. I will be back to Woods Hole on Wednesday, 29 April and
will attend the Spring AGU meeting in Boston during 24-27 May.
Would you prefer each of us to call a few classmates to probe their
 interests?

During my visit to Beijing in summer 1997, I saw Chen Xiaofei,
Zhu Lianbao, Gao Wei, and Wang Pen Chen. Xiaofei and Lianbao
are now the head (Director and Associate Director) of the
Geophysics program at Beijing University. They would very
much like to invite all classmates visiting Beijing
to give a talk at their department (like what I did) or simply
stop by. Gao Wei is going back to graduate school, while Wang
Peng Chen is in charge of computer operation at the Institute of
 Geophysics, Academia Sinica.

In sum, as long as the reunion does not fall within 23 July-
28 August, I am very likely to join you all.

P.S. Xu Yan's message mentioned Hou Pei Yu - is Pei Yu in China
 or in the US?
