(The "I" below is Ian Peters-=20 Campbell) The company is called Loopt. I=92m not sure how much you follow the =20 social networking space, but we are the biggest mobile, location-based =20= social networking company out there. The company is about 3 years =20 old, has just recently closed a C round, and is moving forward with =20 some exciting stuff this year. It=92s a company of young people (I=92m = an =20 old man here at 31) with a fun, hardworking atmosphere. We=92re located = =20 in Mountain View, but I live in Santa Cruz, so carpooling isn=92t out of = =20 the question. I=92m a client engineer, and I am working on the iPhone team. We are =20= about to undertake a major rewrite of the iPhone app, so there=92s lots =20= of interesting work to do. Some of the primary work our intern would =20= be doing would include developing/fleshing out our automation harness for the new and =20 improved app maintaining, extending, and perhaps taking ownership of our build =20 system (currently owned by me, and I don=92t find myself with the =20 bandwidth for it recently) white-box testing and debugging of the iPhone app perhaps adding new features to the application if the skill level and =20= attention to detail that we need is there In addition the person would of course be doing a lot of team =20 communication, attending cross-team meetings, and would be sitting in =20= on (and offering input) in architecture/design meetings. I think it=92s = =20 a great chance for someone to get involved in iPhone work, and with =20 Loopt being young and growing there=92s a good opportunity for someone =20= to leverage talent and hard work into a fulltime position in the future. What we are looking for from an applicant would include: Strong C/C++ skills Knowledge of at least one high level scripting language (Python a plus) Experience with OS X, Cocoa, Objective C is a big plus An ability to integrate well with a small, fast-moving team Someone who is motivated, willing to take direction and learn Someone who writes code in a clear and careful manner Solid writing/communication skills A good sense of humor and an ability to enjoy a high-pressure delivery =20= environment We=92d love to start looking at resumes over the next couple of weeks. You can send resumes directly to me and I will disseminate them to my =20= team members. Thanks! Hi Professor,

Thanks for posting to = the mailing list for us.  I got three responses but unfortunately = one had already accepted a position elsewhere, the second didn=92t have = a work visa, and the third didn=92t answer the phone or have voicemail. =

It looks like the team now wants to cast the net a bit = wider, to Berkeley, SJSU, etc.  If any particular students spring = to mind in the next few days as being strong in C (for college students = ;) ) and you think they would be interested and appropriate candidates = please let me know...I=92d still very much like to bring on someone from = UCSC if possible.

Thanks!
