Final Project Proposal

My final project is to view population of cities in California as a height map and the densities of cities as a color/texture map.

For example: Maywood, California has the highest population density with 21,929.09 in California so it will be the brightest red color using the rainbow color map.

So 2/3 of 21,929.09 will be the brightest green and 1/3 of 21,929.09 will be the brightest blue with darkest blue being the city with the lowest population.

Population Data will have to be scaled with Range of the coordinate of the cities because while the population is in 100,000+, the coordinates are not even over 1000.

Some cities did not exist back in 1980s and they will be ignored since I won't be able to animate them. It will also make the data clean and easy to manage.

Timelines and Goals:

By February 10th, I should be able to collect all the data needed for densities, populations and coordinates.

By February 17th, my goal is to map out all the cities on the California map.

By February 24th, my goal is to get the height map and texture map to work.

By March 2nd, my goal is to load up all the data in and try to animate the population and density changes over time.

By March 9nd, my goal is to finish all the detailing of the map and finish up previous work if they weren't finished.
