Marble Madness Game
by Nathan Fillhardt
Description
This project is an attempt to make a game like the
classic Arcade game Marble
Madness. While the graphics are not the same and none of the levels are
either the core concept of a ball rolling around a level to complete get to an
objective is the key idea. The user is put in control of a ball and the goal is
to navigate it to and end objective on the map. The Levels are all data driven
so if you can figure out the file format you can make new levels!
User Guide
You are given a certain amount of time to complete each
level if you do not complete the level in the allotted time you will start over
at level one. There is also a number of lives total if you fall off of the
world you will lose a life if you lose all of them you lose the game and have
to restart!
- Ball Movement
- The ball
can be controlled using the four arrow keys. A force is applied to the
ball while any key is down and you are able to combine keys together to
achieve diagonal movement.
- The ball has a maximum
speed and acceleration on it.
- When going up some
ramps it may be necessary to get a bit of speed to get all the way to the
top.
- Some ramps and
surfaces can change the velocity of your ball, be careful for they are
not always labeled as such.
- Level Transversal
- There are currently 3
levels in the game and to get through them all you need to find the end
point in under the time.
- Other controls
- Pressing the
'SPACE' bar will pause the game, in some instances like restarting and
progressing to the next level pressing the 'SPACE' bar will be required.
- Other stuff
- In the top left corner
of the screen is displayed the Time left, number of lives your score and
the current level.
- To exit the game press
'ESC'
