CMP 161 -- Programming Assignment 4
Due date:
11:00am, Friday, 3/14/2003
Objective:
Investigate a data set using a barrage of visualization techniques.
To Do:
-
Investigate the ``Liquid Oxygen Post'' data set using VTK (or Opendx)
by processing the data further to extract any feature
that may be interesting,
apply visualization techniques to the data or derived data,
summarize results/findings
-
Write a report about the whole process.
-
Getting started.
Two data sets (including the Liquid Oxygen Post data) and
some sample programs are available
here
to help you get started.
Grading:
This program nominally accounts for 5% of your final grade.
Assignments turned in at least a full day early will earn 1% bonus credit.
Late assignments will be charged 1% late points.
In addition, late assignments will not
be accepted 24 hours past due date.
Late programs and reports will not be
accepted for the final project. The bonus credits may be accumulated up to a
total of 50% toward program and final project credits.
Note that this assignment is quite different from the previous ones
in the sense that the grading emphasis is not so much on the
code you write but on how you apply techniques to a problem.
See the grading
guide
.
Submit an html page with description and images of your project's output.
More importantly description of your findings about the data set should
be included.
Make sure the links are all local and relative to your submit directory.
Well documented code, network, makefile, README file, etc.
Submission:
Create and submit a subdirectory called "prog4".
It should contain all the files you have to
make your program compile/run.
Include the other items to be submitted in this directory as well.
Submission must be done using the submit utility from CATS.
- To submit use: submit cmps161-ap.w03 prog4 files
- To verify submission use: peek cmps161-ap.w03 prog4
These commands should work from any cats machine, but if there is a problem try from unix.ic.
