Orazio Gallo

Hi!
I am a fourth year Ph.D. student in the Computer Engineering program at the University of California, Santa Cruz. My main areas of interest are computer vision and machine learning, with a focus on mobile applications and assistive technology. I am recently getting interested in computational photography as well. My adviser is Prof. R. Manduchi.

September 13th, 2009 - My paper "Reading Challenging Barcodes with Cameras" written with Prof. R. Manduchi was accepted as an oral presentation at WACV 2009! (more)
June 1st, 2009 - I advanced to Candidacy. So now I officially am a PhD candidate and I can read PhD comics lightheartedly.
November 13th, 2008 - My paper "Artifact-free High Dynamic Range Imaging" written with N. Gelfand, W. Chen, M. Tico, and K. Pulli was accepted for as an oral presentation at ICCP 2009! (more)
April 29th, 2008 - My paper "A camera-based pointing interface for mobile devices" written with S. Areaga and J. Davis was accepted for ICIP 2008! (more)
April 23rd, 2008 - My paper "Robust curb and ramp detection for safe parking using the Canesta TOF camera" written with R. Manduchi and A. Rafii was accepted for the TOF workshop at CVPR 2008! (more)
