Current News:
• I passed my last class (CMPS 201/Algorithms) and am now going to be working on my MS thesis. I am not on campus regularly, but will be on campus from time to time during winter quarter.
• I work as a software engineer at Guidewire Software.
• I was on leave of absence for the 2004-2005 academic year, and was withdrawn for the 2005-2008 academic years during which time my wife completed a direct-entry MS in Nursing. I returned part time for 2009. Spring.

About My Time at UCSC:
I was at UCSC from Sept. 2002 to June 2004, working with the Storage Systems Research Center.

My primary area of interest is file systems design, although I have broad interests in both operating systems and software engineering. My advisor is Prof. Ethan L. Miller. I have been working with the group in research on filesystems for Magnetic RAM (MRAM) and am generally interested file and storage system applications for nonvolatile memories.

This page is intended as an academic introduction; for those interestested in a more personal introduction, I recently started keeping a blog ("Cubicle Hermit") and I have a personal page ("nkedel.com") for those interested, and a slightly more up-to-date photo.
