Subj: Your World Class Altitude Records Date: 7/2/2004 12:08:51 AM Eastern Daylight Time From: "Steve Pawling" To: Sent from the Internet (Details) Hi Mark, I wanted to let you know that during discussions that I recently had with the SSA FAI Committee, it became apparent that I issued you the California World Class Absolute Altitude and Altitude Gain records in error. As you probably know, the PW-5 currently has an altitude limitation, therefore making altitude records a moot point. I am aware that the PW-5 will soon have its altitude restriction raised to 35,000 feet but this is also a limitation that will prevent the PW-5 to be eligible for altitude records. It appears that both Arleen Coleson and I had forgotten about the PW-5 altitude limitation when your documents were processed last year. However, it's not all bad news. The FAI Committee decided to allow you to keep the records as awarded. Therefore, you will be the only altitude record holder in California and probably the United States! As a countermeasure to this problem, better information regarding state and national records will be published by the SSA. If you have any questions regarding this issue, please contact me. All the best, Steve
