ABOUT ME

I joined the Infrastructure for Intelligent Information Systems group in IBM Research - Almaden after obtaining my PhD in Computer Science from University of California, Santa Cruz in 2008. My research interests lie in the broad area of data management, with emphasis on information extraction, information integration and data provenance.

At UC Santa Cruz, I was involved with the Database Research Group and the eWomen - Women in Engineering Group.

Prior to the Santa Cruz era, I received my BS in Computer Engineering from Politehnica University of Bucharest in 2003. While an undergrad, I worked for several Romanian IT companies, where I was involved in developing a wide range of applications - from web-based content management systems to computer graphics tools and online games.
