Hello Classmates,
Once again the Annual Golf Tournament and BBQ was a blast. We have
such great people in our class. A special thanks goes out to Gerry
Filippi for his patience in setting up the golf day and getting people
on the teams that they wanted to play on, and to John for his work on
getting the Commemorative T-shirts for us and working with me on all
of the menutia (that is not a Mexican dish you eat after a hangover,
that's menudo) I'm talking about all of the little details to put on
such a fun event. John Newton worked very hard for all of the
attendees to enjoy themselves, and I believe he was successful. Ed is
our heart, our drive and our major source of support. He was a trooper
in hanging in there with us till the end and a big thank you goes out
to him as well. Hiram never lets us down with putting the smiling
faces of all of the happy 69ers on the web. Thank you Hiram. For
those of you that missed the 2nd Annual Class of 69 Golf Tourney and
BBQ hosted by the V-Club please try to make it next year. You won't
regret it. We really do have the greatest people in the Class of 69.

This year's Class of 69 Golf Tourney and BBQ was a great success. I
want to thank Cathy Gregory, John Newton and Gerry Filippi for all of
the long hours and hard work they put into making this years fun time,
just that, a fun time for everyone. We had several people who were not
at this class function last year, including yours truly, so it is good
to see that the word is getting spread that this day is a really good
time whether you golf or not. The main thing that this day gives us is
a chance to see and spend some quality time with classmates and
friends. Hopefully next year we will grow a little more in attendance
and that translates to more fun for everyone. So those who came this
year, tell any other classmates you happen to see that they should join
in on the festivities. Those of you who read this on the Class of 69
website should try and free up a weekend next May and get in on the fun
and festivities.

My most vivid memory from this year's golf tourney was the reaction of
the closest to the hole winner Ray Garcia after he hit his winning shot
and watched it going toward the flag. He pulled in a pretty good haul
and his very nice wife Brenda, was more than pleased to take control of
the winnings. Ray, bless his heart, handed it over with no questions,
just like the rest of us married guys would have done. Who says men
can't learn what is important ?

Thanks also need to go to Mr. and Mrs. Carreiro for sharing their home
with us for the second straight year. And, a mighty big thanks to
Hiram Clawson for putting this on the Class of 69 website so all of us
can enjoy it all over again and those folks who did not show up can get
a photo gallery of their classmates enjoying themselves.

A special and very personal thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Filippi for helping
me when I needed it. Thanks mom and dad.
