About Me:

I am currently a Ph.D. student in Computer Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz. I earned a Master's degree in Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2017, and a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of California, Davis in 2014. Additionally, I earned a B.A. in Linguistics, with a minor in Russian and East European Studies, from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire in 2001, and I earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Russian Language and Society from the University of Surrey in 2003.

My master's thesis topic involved using genetic machine learning algorithms for whole-body control of robots composed of both rigid and soft materials, with many degrees of freedom. My current Ph.D. work, advised by Ricardo Sanfelice, with the Hybrid Systems Laboratory, involves the development of hybrid accelerated gradient descent algorithms and analysis of the stability, robustness, and convergence rate of such algorithms.
