Academic / Professional Interests:
Coming from a biology background, my professional interests involve diving into computer science and discovering new ways to tie biological and computer science concepts together. I am currently seeking to learn more about ways in which computer science can help discover new technology that can assist medical patients in recovery processes. This includes physical, speech, and occupational therapy.

Machine learning, AI, virtual reality, and human computer interactions are currently fields that are piquing my interest to help aid my understanding of the two fields. There is extensive research being performed on implementing concepts from machine learning to help discover efficient and optimized recovery plans that are specialized per patient, especially in rehabilitation after stroke. In addendum to this, computer models are becoming more sophisticated to help imitate and speed the recovery process of patients with the use of virtual reality and in combination with mechanical and computer engineering of bio-inspired models. I plan to do more work in these fields by taking classes that will further develop my understanding as part of my graduate school experience.

Papers and Projects:
I currently do not have any published papers or projects, however these are a few of the papers and projects that I am interested in learning more about:

Replicating Clinic Physical Therapy at Home: Touch, Depth, and Epidermal Electronics in an Interactive Avatar System: This paper strives to develop a physical therapy program that can be used by patients at home without the assistance of physical therapists. It involves the patient interacting with the interface of the program in order to be guided on proper movements. This system's goal is to reduce the cost of therapy to patients as well as the time for recovery.

A bio-inspired tensegrity manipulator with multi-DOF, structurally compliant joints: This paper is intriguing, as they use two lightweight bio-inspired robotic arms in order to solve issues in inelastic joints featured in many traditional robotic mechanisms. They were able to create an arm model that is flexible similar to a human arm and elbow, and have strong functionality in taking on various types of forces and movements.

Danser Lab Tensegrity and Soft Robotics: The Danser Lab seeks to build robots that follow the design principle of Tensegrity. These principles allow for structures that can handle stress differently by distributing them across a network.

Project Butterfly / Project Star Catcher: Project Butterfly seeks to incorporate virtual reality concepts in order to increase many factors such as accessibility, affordability, and accuracy of physical therapy specifically for stroke rehabilitation patients. Project Star Catcher implements virtual reality concepts as well, adapting the constraint induced therapy method for arm rehabilitation.

Brain-Training Software for Stroke Survivors: This project is focused on helping stroke survivors or any individual with cognitive impairments through the use of rehabilitation software. This software implements various exercises that help the brain process specific information, such as arithmetic, name matching, memory, and spelling.

Interests and Passions:
My casual hobbies include many things such as tennis, gaming, and eating new and delicious food from all cultures. I also have a keen interest in health and medicine and reading about the newfound discoveries related to the healthcare field.
