I'm a Ph.D. student at UC Santa Cruz, studying information retrieval for filesystems under Darrell Long. I received my B.S. in Computer Science from UC Santa Cruz in 2008, and an M.S. in 2010.

I'm currently working on techniques for ranking, recommendation, and personalization of search results for large-scale scientific file systems, as well as techniques for naming files and disambiguating search results. For more information, please see my research page.

In addition to information retrieval, I'm interested in statistical natural language processing, computational linguistics, and cognitive science. I think the world should be a more interesting, useful, user-friendly place, and that information retrieval, personalization, and machine learning are key aspects of making that happen.
